K-Swiss K-Ruuz $85

K-Swiss K-Ruuz $85
The swiftest member of the K-Swiss running family features the same serious focus as the rest of the line.

It also features a few triathlon-inspired touches: laces with link-sausagelike texture to stay tied, drainage through the shank, and perforations at the toe and heel for air flow (which K-Swiss calls its “FlowCool System”). The upper is open mesh with HF-welded midfoot overlays. The midsole is very low profile with a Superfoam crash pad and Strobel board for cushioning. There’s a small medial post for stability, which is especially useful in a racer since fatigue usually results in reduced biomechanical efficiency (you know, your form breaks down as you near the end of a race). Overall, the K-Ruuz is an excellent racer for the speedy, but it’s so lightweight that it’s better suited to shorter races.

  • Sizes: men 8–12,13,14; women 5.5–10,11
  • Weight: 6.0 oz. (men’s 11); 4.6 oz. (women’s 8)
  • Shape: semi-curved Fit: snug heel, close-fitting forefoot
  • For: medium- to high-arched feet with neutral biomechanics to very mild overpronation
  • Range: efficient runners - up to 35K or beyond; heavy strikers - up to 15K

The Olathe Kids Marathon was created to promote health and fitness in children. The marathon program is structured to allow children, kindergarten through sixth grade, to complete a full 26.2 mile marathon at a pace that is fun and safe for their growing bodies one mile at a time. The Greater Kansas City YMCA has developed a training program that will take the Kid's Marathon participant from zero to 26.2 total miles in 16 weeks. The first 25 miles will be, ran or walked in quarter, half or one mile increments, on a safe secure route designated by parents, coaches, mentors or teachers. The final 1.2 miles of the marathon will be completed on race day, Saturday, April 10, 2010. This year's event will be held at the Garmin facility at 151st and Ridgeview Streets with an age/grade wave start beginning at 7:30 AM. The Olathe YMCA is allowing children participating in the marathon and their families to use the YMCA for free on Sundays. While training, mileage tracking will be on the "honor" system and kids will get the most and be prepared for the marathon by tracking their miles honestly. Daily record keeping is a task that kids and parents can chart to monitor progress toward their mileage goals. A PDF version of the training program and tracking chart can be found on the Olathe Marathon's website www.olathemarathon.com under the "Kid's Marathon" button.

The Patriots Run is an annual event held to commemorate the tragic events of September 11th 2001. With this event we remember, not only those victims who were lost, but also those soldiers, police, firefighters and others who served this country both on that day and every day thereafter. In this way we honor all the people who work to insure that this tragedy never repeats itself. In our logo the 2 blue stripes on the left represent the Twin Towers. The 5 red stripes stand for the armed forces, police, fire fighters, emergency personnel and their families. This is a unique event designed by the committee, running community, sponsors and others. It is a 9 hour and 11 minute run/walk that begins at noon. Participants can be either solo or teams. You can join us at noon and stay the entire time or join us at any time during the event. You can run as much as you wish. Some people join us at the start, leave for a while and come back later. The flexibility is there to let you design your own event--anything from a lap or 2 to an ultra run. You can also opt for the certified marathon.
