K-Swiss K-Ruuz $85

K-Swiss K-Ruuz $85
The swiftest member of the K-Swiss running family features the same serious focus as the rest of the line.

It also features a few triathlon-inspired touches: laces with link-sausagelike texture to stay tied, drainage through the shank, and perforations at the toe and heel for air flow (which K-Swiss calls its “FlowCool System”). The upper is open mesh with HF-welded midfoot overlays. The midsole is very low profile with a Superfoam crash pad and Strobel board for cushioning. There’s a small medial post for stability, which is especially useful in a racer since fatigue usually results in reduced biomechanical efficiency (you know, your form breaks down as you near the end of a race). Overall, the K-Ruuz is an excellent racer for the speedy, but it’s so lightweight that it’s better suited to shorter races.

  • Sizes: men 8–12,13,14; women 5.5–10,11
  • Weight: 6.0 oz. (men’s 11); 4.6 oz. (women’s 8)
  • Shape: semi-curved Fit: snug heel, close-fitting forefoot
  • For: medium- to high-arched feet with neutral biomechanics to very mild overpronation
  • Range: efficient runners - up to 35K or beyond; heavy strikers - up to 15K

Running a marathon is not something that anyone should ever take lightly. Running 26.2 miles puts huge stress on a person's feet, knees, hips, back, joints, and tendons. Toughening one's body to handle this level of stress without incurring injuries requires at least a year of consistent training to build up to it. To put it bluntly, if you are not already running at least 15 to 20 miles per week as part of your regular fitness regimen, then you should not be considering running the La Crosse Marathon.Below is a 24-week plan that is intended to get a healthy reasonably fit runner into physical condition so that he or she can complete a marathon with a minimum of difficulty. The plan is deliberately conservative: some individuals or more experienced runners may find that they are able to progress faster than this schedule indicates; if so, they can increase the distances, frequency, or the intensity of their runs. On the other hand, if someone finds that he or she cannot progress at the rate the schedule calls for, he or she is advised to switch to the half marathon for this year.

The course is a challenging and picturesque route around the perimeter of Geneva Lake. The scenic views and unbelievable hills combined with a final run on an ancient Indian trail set the stage for a very memorable marathon. The start AND finish for the 2010 Madison Marathon will be held on Madison's Capitol Square! We've listened to your comments and agree: There is no more beautiful place in Madison than the Capitol. There are more access points to the Capitol Square so cars will not be backed up getting to the start the way they were at the Alliant Energy Center. More hotel rooms are located downtown so many participants can walk to the start/finish

Wisconsin Marathon

Kenosha, WI

The Wisconsin Marathon was created to fill the need for a quality, spring time, long distance running event in the Midwest, specifically, the Chicago area. The idea was to create an event with a fun-filled atmosphere that was more about the joy of running, than the stress of competition. With the help of the Kenosha Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, a race location was found, and the Wisconsin Marathon was born. The Owners and Directors of the Wisconsin Marathon have been heavily involved in the Running Industry since 1987. Runners and endurance athletes themselves, they know what it's like to train and race, and they know what participants are looking for before, during, and after the race.
