Adidas adiStar Raven $120

adidas adiStar Raven $120
The new Raven replaces the adiStar Trail. The protective upper is constructed of a closed mesh with high friction-welded overlays that form a full rand with a rubber toe bumper.

The midsole is a firm, molded EVA with a “mud release surface”—essentially a slick finish that keeps the mud from clinging to the sides. The outersole is a new configuration of plus-sign–shaped flexible lugs covering the entire sole, but they’re made out of adiWear on the medial half and sticky rubber on the lateral half. The Raven is constructed using ForMotion 360, a full-length thermoplastic Strobel board that offers protection on the trails without restricting flexibility, in combination with the proven ForMotion cassette in the heel, here in a trail-specific design with a side-to-side cleft across the entire heel to better flex with the uneven terrain of most trails.

adidas XCS

adidas XCS
The XCS is the update to the RLH from a couple seasons back. The XCS features the same Traxion outersole of the RLH in both a six-spike configuration and the more versatile spikeless version.

The upper is the same in each: a mini airmesh and a supportive, extended heel counter with a low-volume, foot-hugging fit. The midsole is low even for low-profile shoes and is molded EVA. The EVA provides adequate cushioning on its own, and gets an assist from the Traxion lugs that supply not only traction, but some cushion (via deflection). The close fit, deft touch of cushioning, and excellent traction help the foot efficiently negotiate whatever the cross country course puts between you and the finish line.

  • Spike/Spikeless $60
  • Sizes: men 7–13,14,15; women 5–12
  • Weight: (men’s 11) 8.3 oz. spike, 7.8 oz. spikeless; (women’s 8) 7.5 oz. spike, 7.0 oz. spikeless

With the death of disco, we traded in our platform shoes for waffle trainers and hit the roads, trails, and the tracks. Over the years, club members have logged tens of thousands of miles. One of our distinguished members has run over 100 marathons! But the club isn't just for experienced runners- we welcome all who share our lifestyle of enjoying a good run. The 3 Rivers Road Runners are for runners of all shapes and sizes, from the veteran ultramarathoner to the beginner working towards that first 5 km fun run, and everyone in betweeThe primary goal of the 3 Rivers Road Runners is to promote running events in the Tri-Cities. Besides providing events for our members and the runners in the region, with our events we hope to attract new runners to the club that can benefit from the healthful, positive lifestyle gained through running. Thanks to all our runners and volunteers for a delightful event! Every year during the last couple of days (or weeks) before the race date, we pretty much decide that we're not going to do this again, but every year, once race day arrives, we change our minds and conclude that we definitely have to do it again next year. It is so much fun to host all you runners for the race and lunch afterwards, to hear a few of your stories, to see you all enjoying your well-earned rest and refreshment after your runs. Thanks all of you for participating in this year's Light at the End of the Tunnel Marathon. Before I wax too verbose, please note the Results of today's race are up already. Please let us know if you find any errors and we'll correct them. Meanwhile we've got some sleep to catch up on, so we're headed off to bed. More comments to follow soon.

Yakima River Canyon Marathon
March
Yakima, WA
dolphinmteam@earthlink.net
http://www.ontherunevents.com/yrcm
This point-to-point marathon course is exceptionally scenic as it offers spectacular views of the Yakima River Canyon. It starts on Canyon Road .2 mile south of the Berry Road intersection in Ellensburg, Washington. After two loops, it proceeds directly south to the canyon. There are two major hills and many curves as the course follows the Yakima River downstream on the asphalt surfaced highway. The long downhill just before the finish in rural Selah, Washington, near the canyon's mouth contributes to the net elevation loss of a few hundred feet as it brings the runners to the Yakima Valley orchard and ranch country.

Rainier, this race offers spectacular views. Like "The Mountain" itself, though, the race stands as an ultimate test of mental character and physical endurance. Over the 50-mile distance the race course rises and falls a staggering 8,700 feet (total elevation change: 17,400 feet). The race features rolling terrain, ridge tops, northwest forest, several sections of technical trails, and of course several demanding climbs and challenging descents. Race numbers are limited to 400 of the toughest endurance athletes this country has to offer. Most competitors will be pleased just to complete the race distance. However, as an extra testament to supreme performance, at least $6,500 in prize money is offered, going three deep in each category.
